Good afternoon,

This is Dr. Lee Moon Won.

Thank you for your question.

Usually after giving birth hair falls a lot, especially around 3rd monthpostpartum, it is the peak of hair loss.

During pregnancy, on 5-6 month, hair usually dont fall out and youmight feel that the hair at that time get thicker. But on the 3rdmonth after giving birth, all the hair that were supposed to fall out but didnt start to fallout all at once. This is a normal process.

But thereare some patients who have hair loss not related to pregnancy and their hairfall out because of some other reasons.

For example, they got some diseases during pregnancy like toxemia, diabetis, stress or theycouldnt eat well due to morning sickness. These can also become factors that can cause hair loss. And after giving birthhair fall even more.

In my opinionyou have symptoms of a regular postpartum hair loss, so you dont have to worry a lot.
You can wait a little bit and eat well. Since it might bedifficult to sleep enough because of the baby, you have to eat clean healthyfood. Even though women want to lose some weight after giving birth, try not toworry about it and eat well, because your hair can fall out more if you dont get enoughnutrients.

During next 3 months the number of falling hair will reducegradually and you will start having a lot of short hairs. It is the new hair starting togrow. Usually on 6-7 month postpartum the hair come back to the conditionbefore pregnancy.

If you hair will still fall out after that period of time, it means youneed to get the treatment. Usually the treatment helps to make your hair growbetter and reduce the number of falling hair.

Of course you can get treatment now, but it will not help you to recoveryour hair fast, it will only help to stop the process of hair loss just alittle bit (because it is normal to lose your hair now)
If you get thetreatment now, the purpose of treatment will be to reduce the number of fallingout hair 6-7 months postpartum and make your hair grow better.
I recommend you to wait a little but more before starting thetreatment. As I mentioned before, you just have to eat well and use supplementsto recover faster and track the number of hair falling out and you will seethat the new hair will start to appear in 2-3 more months.
If the situation does not get better you can start gettingthe treatment.

Also, if you have Seborrheic dermatitis in your scalp, it is recommendedto wash your hair every day and if possible use the special shampoo for that.

I know that you are worried a lot because if this problem, but not toworry and track your hair. It is a normal process in your situation. Even iflater you will have to get the treatment, it is not that serious and your haircondition can be improved easily, so dont worry about it too much.

Hope this information is helpful. Feel free to ask more questions and hope you have a great day!

Postpardum hair loss I gave birth to my first child 3 months ago. And I stared to lose a lot of hair these days.Especially when I wash and brush my hair.. Today I had so much fall out hair, I got scared and started to look for it in the internet and decided to get the consultation from your clinic. When I went to the hair dressed last time they told me that my hair is very weak and they are getting thinner these days… I used to have very thick and healthy hair before. I would like to get the consultation regarding this problem. Thank you.
