Hair Growth Effects of a Natural Blend Based on Japanese Knotweed and Oriental Arborvitae

This time, we're sharing the hair growth effects of a natural blend based on Japanese knotweed root and Oriental arborvitae leaf, currently used in Recording Super Hair Tonic. The blend is a natural hair loss treatment sprayed onto and around areas of hair loss. It's especially well suited to oily scalps and can be used whether or not the scalp is inflamed, making it particularly effective when dermatitis and hair loss occur together. It does have a distinctive scent, however.
Confirming the Effects Through an Animal Study
Study Design
- Subjects: C57BL/6N mice
- Procedure: The control group received a 6% ethyl alcohol solution, and the experimental groups received a 6% ethyl alcohol solution containing Japanese knotweed root and Oriental arborvitae leaf extracts, applied twice a day. Two experimental groups with different extract ratios (5/45 and 10/40) were used to compare effects by concentration.
Day 8 Results
On day 8, there was no major difference among the groups, but the backs of the mice in the 10/40 group looked slightly darker than the others, suggesting that new hair had started to grow.
Day 16 Results and Conclusion
On day 16, the control group showed no change, but the experimental groups showed a big difference. The 10/40 group in particular had new hair growing across nearly the entire back, demonstrating a clear hair growth effect.
Conclusion: This study confirmed that a natural blend of Japanese knotweed root, Oriental arborvitae leaf, and other ingredients has a clear hair growth effect, and that the effect can vary depending on the blend ratio.
