Creating a Path Where None Existed
There was a time when hair loss was widely considered a condition that simply could not be treated. There were few specialists dedicated to treating it, and no established path to follow. So I had to find my own.
I filled my office with old medical texts and international research papers, moving back and forth between university laboratories and the clinic. I devoted myself to scientifically studying medicinal herbs one by one and understanding how they could affect hair loss and scalp health.
Through it all, I held on to one belief:
“If we can scientifically demonstrate the true value of Korean medicine, we can help people around the world overcome their struggles with hair loss.”
The Data Tells the Story
My research journey began in 2002 with an unexpected experience involving one of my patients. I had prescribed herbal medicine to treat the patient's lower back pain, but something remarkable happened: the patient's excessive hair shedding also began to improve. That single observation changed the direction of my life. Throughout my master's and doctoral studies, I dedicated my research to understanding the causes of hair loss and identifying naturally derived therapeutic substances that could help address it.
Years of treating patients eventually grew into a valuable clinical database built from more than 200,000 consultations. That experience has contributed to 11 registered patents and more than 10 published research papers. The treatment methods developed at Lee Moon Won Korean Medicine Clinic continue to evolve through ongoing clinical experience and research.
Investing in Research, Not Just Marketing

While others focused on expanding their clinics or investing heavily in marketing, Dr. Lee Moon Won chose to reinvest a significant portion of his clinical revenue into research and experimentation. His goal was simple: to demonstrate results strong enough to change the perception of hair loss from “nothing can be done” to “treatment is possible.”
Today, numerous hair and scalp care products have been developed based on the knowledge and findings generated through this research.
How Word of Mouth Took Us Around the World
Today, Lee Moon Won Korean Medicine Clinic treats patients with hair loss and scalp conditions from Korea and around the world.
Beginning in 2013, we started treating international patients who were living in Korea. Many of them later recommended the clinic to friends and family in their home countries. Through these personal referrals, our international patient community continued to grow. Today, we treat more than 5,000 international patients from approximately 65 countries each year.
Many international patients come to us because they are looking for a safe, health-focused approach to hair loss treatment based on Korean medicine. Their positive experiences and recommendations have continued to introduce Lee Moon Won Korean Medicine Clinic to patients around the world.
